Hans Flohr Awards 2025
Recognition for outstanding young researchers in urology

At the Alken Award ceremony, which took place in Düsseldorf from November 27 to 29, 2025, two outstanding young scientists were honored for their remarkable contributions to urology. At FARCO, we are delighted to support innovative research and promote the commitment of young scientists with the Hans-Flohr Awards.
Clinical Prize
Dr. med. Marcel Schwinger

For his study “Radioligand Treatment with Lu-PSMA I&T in elderly patients – Safety, Efficacy, and Prognostic Factors for Survival.” His work provides valuable insights into the safety, efficacy, and prognostic factors in the treatment of elderly patients with Lu-PSMA I&T. The results could make a decisive contribution to optimizing treatment decisions and improving the quality of life of patients with advanced prostate cancer.

Experimental Prize
Dr. med. Michael Melzer

For his research entitled “Prospective pharmacotyping of urothelial carcinoma organoids for drug sensitivity prediction – feasibility and real world experience.” His work shows how patient-specific organoid models can be used to predict the sensitivity of bladder cancer to drugs. It thus makes an important contribution to the development of personalized therapy approaches.

This work impressively demonstrates how innovative research can bring about lasting improvements in clinical practice. With the Hans-Flohr Awards, we honor the commitment of young scientists, commemorate our founder and long-standing FARCO managing director, and actively shape the future of urology research.

We warmly congratulate the award winners Dr. med. Marcel Schwinger and Dr. med. Michael Melzer and look forward to their future achievements.
