Hans-Flohr Awards

FARCO-PHARMA promotes young talent in urology.

FARCO-PHARMA’s long-standing association with urology is also reflected in the Hans Flohr Awards. In memory of Hans Flohr, who died in 2023, long-time managing director of FARCO-PHARMA and patron and honorary member of the C. E. Alken Foundation, the Hans Flohr Prizes are awarded annually by the C. E. Alken Foundation.

The awards are aimed exclusively at young urological talent and are divided into a clinical and a basic science award. Entries must be original scientific papers accepted for publication in a medical journal within the last year. Each of the two Hans Flohr Awards is endowed with €2,000 and comes with an invitation to the current C.E. Alken Prize winners’ meeting and the presentation of the work in a short scientific lecture. The winners are nominated by the Board of Trustees of the C. E. Alken Foundation.

Hans Flohr was Managing Director of FARCO-PHARMA from 1969 until his retirement in 2006. Together with Prof. Dr. C. E. Alken and Dr. Erich Wolf, he played a key role in the introduction of Instillagel®. In 1999, he was awarded the “Promoter of Urological Science” award by the German Society of Urology (DGU).
